CRX AC compressor propeller noise
So I am thinking this is an issue with the AC bearing but wanted to run this by all the masters here on HT. This is the AC compressor on a 89 CRX Si. With the AC on it blows nice and cold no issue other then when the compressor cycles while it is shutting off it sounds like a propeller slowing down. The same thing happens when i turn off the compressor via the AC button or when the car is shut off with the AC on. When the compressor is running though there is no noise of vibration only when it is turning off. I think its the bearing but i don't know alot about ACs so if anyone else has any ideas I would appreciate it.
Thanks

yeah from what i can tell its not causing any problems and its not kicking on and off too much nor is is getting to hot. Just trying to make sure I shouldn't replace it now before it goes out or something. Anyone else have any expert opinions?

Re: CRX AC compressor propeller noise
A/C should NEVER make a noise. noise=damage or wear and tear
You can buy rebuild kits
I prefer finding a used compressor.
If you get the new one cheap enough, you can always try rebuilding the old one.
Try ebay.
A new one will be under $200
What is your budget? Ive found used ones for $40 before

Update on this as I don't want to leave anyone reading this hanging. So compressor ended up seizing up about a week and a half after I posted. Been busy with work/no money so haven't had chance to get it replaced. Taking in this week and will give more information when they take a look at it.

Make sure you service the A/C from time to time.
It has oil in it that needs to be replaced.
Just because it blows cold doesn't mean you can avoid maintenance.
