Coolant hoses keep blowing...
What's up fellas?
My 1.6 91' Civic Si keeps blowing coolant hoses (first it was the heater hose, then the upper radiator hose). Car is fairly new to me. I put a new radiator cap on, thinking maybe the old one was causing lots of pressure to build up, til' a hose let go. Anyone else had problems like this?

Re: (EFbomb)
Compression test is good 170 all the way across (new rings, etc. just last week). No bubbles in the coolant, no smoke in exhaust, and the plugs look great (so i don't suspect head gasket is going).

Re: Coolant hoses keep blowing... (PURPLETERROR)
Oh, forgot to mention, with the old cap, the overflow bottle level was CoNsTaNt, never moved at all (part of what made me think it was the rad cap), with the new cap the level changes up to 2 inches, from cold to hot, vice-versa.
... the hoses were definitely pretty old that blew, but the way they blew... i mean they actuall POPPED (heard it over the radio and rush hour traffic)... so there was definitely way too much pressure in there somehow.
The car now drives/cools fine.
Weird no one else has had similar trouble though...

The rad cap should let the excess flow out.
Pressure test it with the car off and see if the problem happens. If it does, hoses are just old. If not then your hG is probably going
