no they are greased for life. if they arent greased anymore time for new ones. average life depends on how thew car was driven. I have seen some bad after 100,000 miles and some last past 200,000 and are still good. just check for play there should be NONE. no there are no grease fittings, this isnt a 75 chevy

you can take the boot off and regrease it if you really wanted to... just have to pop it off the knuckle.

Greasing the outside of the joint does nothing but make a mess, they place the grease fitting on the head of the joint so the grease lubricates the ball and socket.

That is just a waste of time.

Remove all the other bolts and nuts on the LCA but not the ball joint one and swing the arm out to give the clearance to remove the axle.

I allways hated removing the one with the ball joint. afraid I'm going to tear it.

Use this nifty tool. I just got mine yesterday and it works so much faster and better than that fork. It's also the tool shown in the workshop manual.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1...4000P

It only cost me about $26 with shipping.

Use a ball joint press, sometimes a pitman arm puller will work too. On steel knuckles, I use an impact hammer with a flat anvil, and it will vibrate loose in a second or less.
