__ Noob __ First post --- Car runs but doesn't move too well!??!
Howdy
I just picked up an 89 Civic Si (black). The car runs great and doesn't smoke at startup. The digicam ain't working right now but I hope to post pics by the end of the week.
Now the fun part came when I had to drive it home! I had to slip the clutch like a **** to get it moving! Forward motion was pretty difficult at best. It has 258 000km on it and the tranny was difficult to put in gear. There is a lot of slop in the shifter but it shifted fine between gears once moving.
It made some godawful noises underneath when I went to stop, almost like the caliper was frozen (which is possible since it was sitting for a month or so in the snow).
My question is, will the car do this if maybe one of the axles/bearings/CV joints is shot or is it the clutch? The clutch is said to be original so it could be smoked, I just don't know. I've yet to jack it up in garage and pull the tires off. How can I tell if one of the axles is gone?
Thanks, Aldo

If axles are gone the car will not be able to move.
it vibrate/ click noise when turn.
check the boots see if any torn.

That's kind of what I was wondering ... if one axle is gone, is there enough juice to still move the car? It's wasn't easy but I didn't have to go far but it really moved with major slippage.
