Default 91 civic temp gauge doesnt work & cd player will not turn off with car!

I have a 1991 honda civic si. I am having a couple problems that I am hoping someone maybe able to help with, as the title states, my temp gauge is not working(when i start the car it shoots straight to hot and sits there until i turn off the car). Also my cd player will not turn off with the car. All the wires are properly hooked up (I believe it is something with the ignition?). I have tried everything and cannot get it to turn off with the car. I took a couple pictures in hopes that this may help someone help me solve my problem! I couldn't upload the pictures here for some reason, but they are on another post i made- http://www.hondacivicforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=86131

Pictures include: rear of gauge cluster (looks like a wire plug is missing), an unplugged sensor on the top left corner of the head (right under the left side of the valve cover), a cut wire under the dash, and the engine bay.

temp gage wiring is grounded. find the short between the female bullet connector in your engine harness and your cluster.

voltmeter and schematic will fix the stereo issue.

With the radio, is it wired in to the factory harness? Or is it just a mess of wires? Its pretty simple, sounds to me like the radio power wire is just wired into something that stays on when the ignition is off.

I actually have it wired up through the factory wiring harness, everything is normal, but the cd player stays on when the car is shut off. I believe it maybe because something is wrong with my ignition. Also my lights will not turn on when I open the door..I just bought the car, and it seems like who-ever had it before me did a lot of shotty work..I have it hooked up through a light switch to be able and turn it on and off right now, lol..
Eda6 I am not exactly sure what you mean, you think its just a short in the wiring is why my temp gauge isn't working?
