88 civic radio issues
Hey guys. I know I know, use the search bar. But I have and I haven't seen anything similar to the issue I'm having.
So here is my issue. I am the new owner of an 88 civic sedan. love it and have tons of plans. Already has a y7 swap. And I'm about to put my built z6 head on her.
I know for a fact the guy I got the car from had a radio and it worked. He kept it when I got the car. So I go and wire in my radio that I had in my ej2 and when I turn the car on.....nothing. not only dose the radio not come on but my lights are dim and the clock and dash lights pulse. As soon as I unplug the radio it stop and the lights go back to normal. I know its wired right. Have done a million radio installs. So could it just be my radio some how took a poop on me some how out of the car? Or is there certain issues that the ef has.

Re: 88 civic radio issues
The radio requires voltage from two separate wires (hood and dash fuse box) and also needs a ground wire.

Well I figured it out. I checked the under the hood fuse and it was good. Check underneath the dash and guess what. The fuse was missing all together. I looked before but have overlooked it. So as of now the stereo works and the clock is keeping time. Well see if it keeps. Thanks is for the info guys.
