Re: 88' Civic DX Hatch BUILD THREAD!!
K so after a year of having fun dd this gem the motor would have had about 15-18k miles on it..i thought i blew the head gasket but in roughly 5 hours i pulled the motor and completely disassembled everything..(upon disassembly some bolts were real tight, some were kinda loose and some i could just do by hand so my guess is, they either vibrated loose or the previous owner didnt torque down to spec) causing this: well come to find out it wasn't the head gasket, some how i managed to crack a piston in cylinder 4..prior to cracking the piston i was having issues on cylinder 4, the car wasn't running right so i started checking over everything and i had a dead spark plug so i changed all my spark plugs then not long after the piston gave way! thank god i was only a block away from my house when it had happend..while i dd the hatch I built a 93 s10 to get me around in the winter and something to drive while I start building the beast! I decided to go FULLY BUILT LSV TURBO! Here are some more up to date pics!
-first I custom made a spare tire cover since the car didn't come with one
-this is how the hatch currently resides
-and these are all parts I've been collecting to build the beast!
-81mm JE piston (I believe there 9-1) & ACL main/rod bearing with thrust washers
-golden eagle cam gears
-golden eagle LSV kit
-new valve cover
-moroso oil pan
-eagle H-beam rods with ARP rod bolts
-GE fully sleeved B18A1 (I bought it as a bare block)
-ASR bar with BEAKS lower bar on Skunk2 LCA's
-no name front strut tower bar painted wrinkle black came with^^(idk if I want to use it or not..been thinking about goin with a nice 3point bar)
-EF9 wing that I didn't sell with the old EF9 front end I had..
-EF9 vin plate I found in one of my old parts car
That's all I've got for now..until tomorrow..lol, I'm buying a turbo kit..I will post pics ASAP!

Re: 88' Civic DX Hatch BUILD THREAD!!
I know neuspeed makes theirs like that but there's other brands out there that make them like that too..and as for the front bumper and rear bumper as a mod I had just copied and pasted the list the guy I bought the car from had sent me

Re: 88' Civic DX Hatch BUILD THREAD!!
not sure i would have went with a moroso pan, mostly b/c of the oil return location. one of those things that depends on what turbo and manifold you go with. would suck to have to weld another fitting to it

Re: 88' Civic DX Hatch BUILD THREAD!!
i went with a cast manifold and small turbo so i could keep my full radiator. there's lots of threads in the FI section that'll point you in the right direction. don't forget to post your set-up here

Re: 88' Civic DX Hatch BUILD THREAD!!
sorry i havent been on here lately, been busy with work but just wanted to post an update on some progress...
i traded a friend of mine my b16 gears for some DA, LS long gears and reused my S1 case with my LSD
Edelbrock Victor X intake manifold
Taylor aluminum battery box (going to relocate my battery to the trunk)
cleaned and painted the lovefab ramhorn
also did the intercooler piping (still debating on if i want to do the intercooler or not)
TURBO!!! k so this wasnt cheap but im sure it will be well worth it!!
so its a turbonetics ceramic ball bearing HP-76mm compressor wheel 4''/2.5 non ported shroud. F1-68mm turbine wheel T4 0.96 A/R turbine housing with 3'' v-band----HP RATING 650-750
i also decided to go with some AEM gauges (still have a couple more i need to get)
greddy turbo timer
