1991 civic d15b2 timing
Hey guys, having some issues. I inhereted a 91 civic dx hatch back. Went to go change the head gasket since the graphite one was starting to go (pressurizing the cooling system) So i ended sending off the head to the machine shop to have it resurfaced, they found it need new valve guides and a valve job also. so we went ahead have all that done. I ended up putting the head back on, with the newer style MLS headgasket. New timing belt set, and a new long tube header (it was stupid cheap) Well, got it all together and now it idles like crap. Thought it was the timing belt, I ended up retarting and advancing the belt a tooth, made it worse. Checked for vacuum leaks, nothing. Not entirely sure whats going on. Nothings changed other than the headgasket, and long tube header. it seems to run alright going down the road, just cant figure out why it idles rough.
I did not adjust valves, maybe that might be the issue? im open to any suggestions. Timing belt was put on with the two slashes flush with the head surface and the crank aligned with TDC mark on block.

If you are 100% sure the timing marks lined up, and the only issue is idle, you need to look for vacuum leaks. Before you do that, you absolutely need to adjust the valves properly thou.... Use some carb cleaner to see if you can find a leak around the intake. Check for loose clamps or missing vacuum lines.
