thats awesome !!!! does the new drive shaft weigh alot more then the stock crv one ? you worried about gear ratio at all?
i know i ask alot of questions and dont show alot of confidence in your build...but i am very confident in you capability's as a mechanic/fabricator...just sayin

I'm doing something similar to this. All custom fab pretty much. im wanting to widen the contact pad. im thinking of control arms that are adjustable. i'll draw some stuff up and let me know what you think. maybe we can put our heads together. i'll pay for material if you make and ship them. pay for both of our materials. pm me if interested. i know that more than just the lca would need to be fabbed up.

Re: New to me CR-V
well I made a short video of me messing around in my back yard, but for some reason, when I upload it to photobucket, it only uploads the audio. I have no idea what it's doing.... All I know is this thing is in BEAST mode now !!!

Ok, I have uploaded it on Youtube,
Again, not the best video, but you can see how it's throwing some serious snow and grass with the rear tires.
Also, the car that he shows a quick glance of is my Turbo'ed 4.8L Probe. It's just a tad more fun than the crv...

Bad *** man! I am definitely doing that rear end shim mod this weekend!!! What section of the store did you find that plastic collar?
Check out my CR-V in my garage if your interested.

Re: New to me CR-V
Thanks! Yes, the rear clutch pack is pinned, so the only give is in the viscous coupling. I am thinking of doing the CRVtec since I already own a B16 head. Possibly go turbo after that, keep the boost low, should still put some serious power down with the stock map sensor...

Re: New to me CR-V
It was in the hardware section, with the bolts and washers. I noticed that shimming it did help, but I'm thinking my clutch pack is just overly worn, because I couldn't get the rear to act like I wanted, hence the reason I went with the Land Rover Freelander Driveshaft.

Re: New to me CR-V
I'm confused. I thought the clutch pack in the rear end was the viscous coupling. That round thing on the driveline is the viscous coupling? If so why not mod that to be locked out? It drives fine with the clutch pack pinned?

Re: New to me CR-V
The clutch pack will never send more than 15% torque to the rear by it's design. I pinned the stock clutch pack so it is one solid unit. You can only do this if you add in something that will have some give front to rear, as the front wheels will always spin more than the rears due to the fact when you turn the fronts take a wider circular path than the rears do.
I put in the viscous coupling drive shaft to do just that, only now, when the fronts slip, 50% torque is now applied to the rear

Re: New to me CR-V
So your saying:
1: If you pin the rear end clutch pack and use the original Honda driveline you will have problems.
2: The Land Rover Freelander driveshaft has a component that allows a differential of speed between the two ends of the shaft.
Thanks for the info I have been looking for this stuff for a long time. If I understand you right ^^ I will just shim the pressure relief valve and call it "as good as it gets" You have more tools than I do, sir!

Re: New to me CR-V
Ha ha, yes your statements are correct. the Viscous coupling is one of many ways to have a little slip front to rear. It is what all Subaru's have.
Shimming the pressure relief valve is about the only thing you can "mod" without getting in deep.
