Re: New to me CR-V
Oh, I thought you just wanted to leave the stubs in so the trans fluid didn't come out. Didn't know you were having issues getting the hub side off. Use some good penetrating fluid and a really big air hammer.

Have you physically taken them out before? It isn't really a neccessity that I do it, I just couldn't get the cv to budge for the life of me, lol

Small update: got the front wheel bearing fixed, turned out to be that and not the axle. I still have not heard about the plates i ordered, so i think im going to go through somewhere else and get them done. I hopefully can get them quick enough to get my car lifted by christmas, that would be awesome.

Ha ha, it would most likely be a snow video, I wouldn't even know where to look for trails around where I live.
I still need to tear apart my extra diff case and check the thickness of the clutch disks to see if there is a difference compared to the ones in the car now. I still do not get good engagement out of the rear. I can feel it trying to work, and I'm sure it's helping, but just not enough to make me happy, ha ha.

Re: New to me CR-V
Ok small update, I have decided not to work with this damn clutch pack anymore. I have decided it wont ever do what i want.
So, the new plan is to drill the clutchpack, and pin it. I will use (4) 3/8 diameter pins, at 90 degrees from each other.
I got looking into viscous couplings, and found one in the junk yard, out of a range rover, that im getting cheap. This thing is beefy, and will hold any power i throw at it.
I will update with pics when i pin the diff, and when i make, or get made, the new driveshafts

Re: New to me CR-V
I want to be able to cut 1.7 second 60' times. I think with some decent power i can have this car in the 13's. I wish i could quit messing with my cars, i swear its a condition....

Re: New to me CR-V
I have some CRAZY AWESOME NEWS! Do I have your attention? Ha Ha
Today I went down and got the viscous coupling from the junk yard. It was out of an 03 Land Rover Freelander.
Problem was, I couldn't get it apart from the drive shaft. So, I just got the whole drive shaft! All for $50!!!!!
So, here are some pics of the new drive shaft with the coupling, and also comparing it to the stock drive shaft. And I'm not even to the best part yet.....
So the BEST part about all this, is the fact that the Freelander drive shaft is 3.5" shorter than the stock drive shaft, meaning it gives me the right amount of room to make adapter plates and not have to do any cutting or balancing or anything!
I am SO getting an A on this project!
Thanks for looking, more updates to come.

Re: New to me CR-V
I still dont like the fact it cost $400 for the set, i think i will stick with my strut spacers.
On a sidenote, small update
I got the clutchpack pinned, and as you will see in the pics im not done yet. I have to shorten the pins and reassemble the section. Tomorrow i am going to work on it some more. Drilling this thing was rather tough.
Ill post up some pics tomorrow, hopefully i have some flanges made too, they will take a while though.
Thanks for looking
