drive train problem
I have a 1998 crv with 260K kms in excellent condition. Just got my timing belt, valve job, and water pump done a few month ago. Car is running really smooth. Just there is slight vibration during driving and when I hit the railway tracks or a bump on the road I here a thrump thrump noise from the front tires. Got it checked by the mechanic and both upper control arms are very loose that you can wiggle the tire by your hand. Is this dangerous and will this cause vibration? Second my left inner cv joint is bad and the propellor shaft is bad due to age. And front shocks are leaking oil (the car does not wiggle when I hit a speed breaker meaning shocks are fine but just leaking oil). Are aftermarket parts good or should I stick with original. I am thinking of getting the shocks, upper control arms, and inner cv joints aftermarket made in japan parts. So are the upper control arms getting loose dangerous and will it cause vibration. Should I keep the leaking shocks or replace them even if they are fine? Is the inner cv joint a big problem? Should I repair the propellor shaft or drop it? Thank you!
UPDATE: Got my upper control arms, front shocks, and bad left inner cv joint replaced. The car is very smooth now, no more vibrations or noise. The mechanic said something about the tie rods being loose. What are those and what are the symptoms of bad tie rods. Also I replaced the shocks with kyb shocks, they were cheap. Are these good.
