Default Z6 Swap...issue with belt Whine/Loss of Power

Hey all,

Thanks in advance for all help.

I have two issues:

1) A belt, I suspect the Alternator, is whining. When I rev up i gets louder. Sometimes the whining stops, but when it does the battery light comes on in my cluster. Is the belt too tight?

2) Sometimes in 1st gear I am unable to power off, almost as if there is a delay. I have new injectors, plugs, wires, distributor and all these I put on when I swapped the head. It does not happen all the time, because sometimes I am riding fine and I finally can tell when Vtec kicks in. What could this issue be? Also i just ran Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner in there to see if it would clear the issue.

Thanks once again in advance.

check the belt tension and check the voltage at the battery, it should be close to 14volts. Sounds like you may have an alternator on its way out. Also, check all your connections from your battery to your alternator and your grounds. This may help with your second issue. Is your check engine light on?

i just found out that the alternator belt is loose. I could have sworn I put it on tight..... When the car cools off i will tighten it.

Also as far as the power loss is concerned... Its not like its sputtering, but when I press the gas coming from a stand still in first gear, or low speed in second, the car feels like it will cut off. Then around 4k Rpm, the car I guess catches back up and speeds up tremendously almost as if I was pressing the gas to to the floor the entire time, when actually I was not. I hope this helps

Not Throwing any CELS. I tighten the belt and the squealing stopped. I turned the car off and then tried to turn it back on and it will not turn on. I have power to the lights, stereo, yet the engine will not draw enough power to turn over. I tried to jump it, and my car laughed at me and still did not start. Maybe the Starter went bad when the alternator belt was loose?

sounds like two problems, bad or drained battery and or bad connections to the battery, check your battery terminals, make sure there clean with no corrosion and the connections are tight, and go over your grounds, check chassis to motor and battery to chassis, then try to jump it again if u still have no juice

Bad battery. I swapped my brother's battery and it powered up fine. Bought a new one. Thanks for the information. Now its just about figuring out why I do not have much power when I first get going and right around 3k is when I get better push from my car.... Thanks for all the assistance everyone
