Default YEAH BUDDY

Alright, to those who helped with my dizzy problem, THANKS.

I did my first dizzy change this morning, and although I did run into some problems(with the removal) I got it out.
The bolts were frozen in, I snapped a 1/4" extension. I had to walk over a mile to go to autozone, and purchase a new 12mm socket for my 3/8" drive. They sold me on some pb blaster to loosen up the nut, damn stuff works like magic.

Any ways, I put the new one in, as close to the same position as the old one, and she cranked right up lol Damn was I happy.
She idled up to about 1,500rpm. I am guessing this is because the car was cold, and had been sitting for almost a week ? I let her run for about 5 minutes plus, and the idle seems to have settled down to about 800rpm. I know the idle for this delsol is supposed to be about 700.
I don't know **** about timing . I will probably take it some where, and have them adjust the timing.

So in closing, atleast I did my first dizzy, and so far so good.

Thanks Guys,
Joe

Are you going to take it to get timed because its at around 800 rpm or is the belt off or something, because if your worried about it being at 800 rpm its fine the normal is 750 rpm. You wont have any problems.

Hey streetracer,

first thanks for the help yesterday.

I might get it timed. I'm just a paranoid sucker, and don't want to be off by anything lol.

I'm going to go out and run it now, and see what it stabilizes at. then go from there.

You might as well go get it timed. It only takes a few bucks at a muffler shop (dealership will try to quote you half an hour's labor) and it's always good to do things properly. Besides, your timing might not have been the greatest in the first place.

I was wondering what the dealer might charge for something like this.

I have some guys that I go for regular maintenance things. I just don't know if they would know how to do the timing properly.
On the autozone website, they have diy timing adjustment. One of the things it say to do:
"Pull out the service check connector located behind the right kick panel"
"Connect a jumper wire between the BRN and GRN/WHT terminals of the connector. "

Does that sound about right ? I'm worried that if it needs to be done like this, they will tell me it's not necessary, when it is.

The timing is definately off, it's about 850-900rpm, which is higher than stock.
Stock#'s D15B7/D16Z6 engine: A/T-16° BTDC (RED) at 700 rpm (USA) or 750 rpm (Canada)

If someone cares to give me a lesson, what does it 16degrees before top dead center ? Is the 16degreess the rotation at which the dizzy has to be ?

Thanks,
Joe

if you look at the distributor where the bolts hold it in.. usually when the bolt is in the middle.. like if you moved it one way towards the firewall is advanced and then u can move it toward the radiator its retarted.. just put it right in the middle

Don't confuse your idle speed with timing retard/advance. Any shop that has a timing gun will know to jump the service connector, its not something specific to hondas.
