y8 head on z6 block
this is a new setup that im building. I got a z6 longblock for pretty cheap and I want to build it for around 350whp.
Since I already have a p28 and the y8 has the ckf sensor in the oil pump of the y8 block, all I would have to do then to change to obd1 is to change to an obd1 distributor right.
what are the differences in the plugs between an obd1 and obd2 distributor?
Any input would be great for those who have done it would be great

i was about to do this, dont remember what stoped me.
color match the plug wires at the dizzy, real easy. obd1 is one plug and obd2 is wo plugs, or visa versa.

You have to keep the y8 casing because the obd1 wount fit in the y8 head you just have to change the internals to obd1
but i still have a check engine light

im not sure but i know that a Z6 distributor wount fit....but i know that u can take the internals from any obd1 single cam and put them on a y7 or y8 casing and it will work perfect

Re: y8 head on z6 block (92hatch_cx-t)
And I know that the y8 oil pump wont fit the z6 block. I wanted to use the z6 pump anyways because word is they flow alot better than the y8 one. But if it does fit than I'll go ahead and get the upgraded toga oil pump and save me a headache with the distributor
Or can I fab up a mount for the ckp sensor to mount on the z6 oil pump. Will that work?

Re: y8 head on z6 block (Throwdown)
i know about the timing differences. the z6 has I believe the base timing is 16 degrees and the y8 is 14. Thats is why I want to change to obd-1 so everything can be in sync
