Default OBD1 y8?

I searched and searched but kept finding mixed answers, and limited response in the hybrid forum. I have a 92 EG8 DX with a D15B7 block and z6 head, dizzy, and IM running an untouched P08. Runs ok but its been ragged out for 195k by the previous owner (among other things). A friend offered his <100k y8 from TB to pan with everything for $400 so I'd like to pursue that. He's had the car forever (totaled in rear) and might take less but either way, I want to know what's required to run it OBD1 in my car.

My current sources have me believing I can run the y8 as OBD1 with a P28, but what else do i need? Will the y8 dizzy plug into the existing harness on the car? What will need to be reused, like the alternator, injector clips, etc?

IT'S SO EASY!

All you need OBD2 to OBD1 (for 96-98 civics if that's what ya got) CONVERSION HARNESS
A fresh working p28 ecu

That's it!!

im in the process of it right now the z6 basket is different than the y8 one which basically the legs are in weard places ....i changed the z6 guts into the y8 basket because i was to cheap to buy the harness...the vtec solenoid bolts are diff too..use the y8 one...run the p28 on it and run the whole same wiring as you are right now...on the y8 they had a crank position sensor which your obd 1 doesent have a spot for so leave it out....depending on what IM you have some of the y8s had a FIT valve opposed to an IACV....the z6 has the IACV and and on some y8s that had the FIT on the TB the spots are not drilled out....pm me if nething else man

I know I need a p28, possibly with some updated y8 maps, and no conversion harness because its a '92 and already OBD1. I just wanted to make sure the accessories would work and plug 'n' play is key. Am I using the y8 engine harness or my existing '92 DX engine harness? Is it that the y8 dizzy plugs into the '92 engine harness or is the y8 engine harness only option plugging into the existing shock tower (harness)? Sorry for redundancy I'm just looking for solid and straight forward answers.

Use the dizzy off the B7 and the alternator off the B7, and use the engine harness off the B7, then add the wires for Vtec and enjoy.

im not running any different maps just the stock p28 ones ...goes fine...use your engine harness as it will be direct plug in ...i did this in a 94 sol...soooo...the plugs on the y8 are diff than the obd1 ones where it is a different on board diagnostics sysytem...itll basically be like your putting another motor of the same thing into your car....think of it as putting another z6 in...you would take everything off your motor now and put it on that one..harness and all...the only tricky part is the dizzy .....i used the z6 one because it was the one that would plug into my engine harness...than the prob came that the legs on it wouldnt bolt up to the y8 head....this is the reason i changed baskets...same things just the legs are diff so it could now be bolted up...nething else? idk if this helps or not.

Not trying to thread jack but i've searched and couldn't find an answer, I figured u guys might know. I have a 99 EX, obd2, obviously, and a have a P28 layin around. If I get a conversion harness can I run the P28 without problems? Would it be worth it?

It would be worth it for future potential as far as chipping goes but not really otherwise if that's all you planned to do.

Hate to bring this back up but I had another thought...The y8 swap that I can get has a brand new dizzy which isn't cheap. My current z6 dizzy seems to be on its last leg and I don't want to buy new if the y8 has a perfect one.

So if I buy the swap, it would be everything under the hood minus the tranny (which I might get either way). Will the y8 engine harness plug into the shock towers of my '92? Or is selling the new-ish y8 dizzy and buying a new OBD1 DX dizzy the way to go, using the existing D15 harness?

Sorry for beating a dead horse but looks like the good ole boy that did this mini me might not have changed head gaskets nor did he torque the head down right-->urgency for buying the y8 now! This leak from the left side of the head is getting nasty.
