first of all is your car an auto or 5speed??? need to get that cleared up, but regardless of what the tranny is, if you use the DX wiring harness you are gonna have to run your own VTEC wires, and get the EX (Y8) ecu. nevertheless you are basically just going to have a Y8 motor cause there is no difference in the Y7 and Y8 bottom ends.

The problem that you will run into is that the Y7's come with a 3wire IACV that is attached to the throttle body and the 5 speed Y8's have a 2 wire IACV on the intake manifold. It will be easy for you to get around this. Leave the 2 wire IACV on the back of the intake manifold to seal the hole, use your Y7 throttle body that has the 3 wire IACV on it and replace the throttle plate and cable pull with that from the ex manual throtlle body. The two throttle bodies are the same diameter so do not worry about it. For an ecu, your best choice would probably be the EX auto for price and availability. The only other thing you might have to worry about is a knock sensor, I am not sure if the auto EX ecu looks for that or not, but if it does you need one.

sorry guys i did'nt make it that clear, a bit drunk. my car is an auto, and all the heads i can find are from manuals. I was gonna get the vtec p8 ecu, and get all aftermarket fuel mng, fuel real, injectors, fpr, etc.. i was also going to run the vtec control to a apex'i unit. So vtec is'nt a problem, but i just wanna know ahead of time so i can plan how to fix it.

sounds like you are putting forth a great effort with little benifits. The head doesnt know its and auto, the ecu and some of the Intakes have auto only items for them. I think you should get your feet wet before you jump in the pool. Try getting a ECU (p28 auto?) Instead of the fancy vtec controller. I think the fuel maps may differ also from the y7 to the y8.
Also, The compression is raised from the head swap and the rods are a little beter on the y8 bottom end. I know from experiance, the auto's dont like too much power, they start shifting funny, or not shifting. Good luck on your swap. I seen a vtec ecu on ebay yesterday for 75 bucks.
