Default is it worth getting ?

im running a itr ecu with my b16 swap . currently my vtec kicks in at 5500 rpm's . is it worth getting a apexi VAFC ? would i be able to adjust my vtec to kick in at a lower rpm with the VAFC ?

Yup, you would be able to adjust it. The likelihood you would gain power is small to none, but sure, you could change it.

i have a adjustable fuel pressure regulator and adjustable cam gears . both are at stock settings . friend of mine told me to get a vafc and get all of that tuned at the same time and that i should gain around 15 hp at the wheels . is he right ? so what would be the maine purpose to get the vafc ? like i said im running a itr ecu wich makes my vtec kick in at 5500 rpm's . what difference will that VAFC do ?

I would say that the main purpose in your application would be fuel leaning/enrichment. The VAFC is a piggyback fuel controller too that can set fuel settings by rpm increments so it's not only for vtec settings.

And I agree with your friend, get a vafc and get it all tuned at the same time on a dyno, it could possibly help you out as much as 15 whp.

currently im runing intake , comptech header , test pipe, catback exhaust , skunk 2 intake manifold , b&m fuel pressure regulator , aem cam gears , ground kit . so the VAFC will do a difference in performance ? theres a guy selling one for $180 . is that a good
price ? its the 1st gen VAFC . i might go pick it up today but i want to make sure its a right desicion by askin the pro's here in H-T so worth it ?

It's not "how low can vtec be set at", it's what the optimal vtec crossover point?

If you set your vtec point the lowest you can, you WILL NOT see a performance gain, in fact it will most likely hurt your engine.

Like I said before, get it dyno tuned by a pro and they'll set it to the best and optimum crossover point for horsepower which probably isn't far from 5500 rpms.

Research how vtec works before you try to mess with it yourself.
