Default VAFC - should I bother?

Hi guys, I'm contemplating purchasing a VAFC for my Prelude. I only have CAI and no plans to go H/E route. Maybe pullies in the future. Would I benefit from the VAFC with this setup? I know that the consensus is to get I/H/E, maybe P and then VAFC. But if I can perhaps gain some hp and smoothout the power curve by adjusting the VTEC x-over and maybe lean out the fuel mixture a little, would it be worth getting one?

I hear the v-afc is a good buy for the ludes since their vtec engagement is not optimal. My question is can the v-afc do much for b series n/a engines?

A V-AFC is a useful tuning tool especially if you have gone the I/H/E route. The V-AFC along with a fuel pressure regulator will allow you to see power gains, if they are tuned correctly on dyno. Street tuning on a V-AFC is like a game of darts since you can't see an accurate measure of the A/F ratio.

A good example of a V-AFC and fuel pressure regulator making power was in a high compression LS/VTEC we tuned. The guy came in totally untuned making 175hp and left with 196hp only through V-AFC and fuel pressure tuning only. Its quite a power jump but remember this was a modded LS/VTEC. I am just using this example to make my point. HTH

I don't think it's worth it for a pretty much stock motor. What would the point be?

The VAFC is packed with options like different Vtec points for acceleration and shifting so that the engine stays in Vtec after shifts. It also shows you O2 sensor readings etc. It's a real nice piece of electronics.

The answer is price and intended usage.

I don't know much about fuel tuning so can somebody enlighten me...

AFAIK, VAFC can already let you adjust the amount of fuel....
so why do we still need an FPR? I'm missing something here....
Thanks,

A VAFC can only increase fuel to the maximum amount of the orignal ECU. So to go beyond this you need more fuel pressure and lean out the other areas that don't need as much fuel.
