IMO, $1700 isn't bad for a k series. though it won't put out what the others do but atleast it's a K20.

hmm...why not get the motor and find a k24 bottom end for cheap

not worth it... research more and you'll realize that you will spend 6grand to get the motor in the car and running, not 1700.

the k20a3 is a shitty head (its the half-*** vtec) so it wouldnt be ideal for a frankenstein like youre talking about. if it were a k20a2 or k20a head, then it would be a different story... plus if I was gonna piece together a k-series frankenstein, I would get a 6-speed tranny rather than the 5-speed...

dont waste your time. if you wanna K, save up and get a K20A2 or K20Z head(Type S RSX), K24 block(preferably the TSX version), and a 6 speed trans.

i would definetly do it. $1,700? That's it!? Usually those swaps are $4,500 bucks for the motor.

for the K20a... it will be the new B series! sorry- won't get off subject. I don't want H-T'ers bitching at me and causin' some buuulshit

i'm workin on a K24a setup for my 94 ex. i recently picked a k20a2 intake cam, modified cam gears, and 6-spd k20a2 trans with stage 2 ACT clutch & flywheel. if you're going to go for a cheaper k-series to work with go for the k24. more power than a base k20 for the money. I got my k24 from a totalled acura tsx for $1900 with motor, trans & ecu+ harness, but in the end it'll cost about $6k all said and done for any k-series.

i believe there is some misinformation in this thread...as to which k20 he is talking about the ep3 k20a3 uses a similar head to the element, current gen crv and accords K24 it only has vtec on the intake valve side. so it would be pointless to put the head hes talking about on a k24 block and the tsx heads are similar to the k20a, a2, z heads the difference being the drive by wire which I believe the k20z has....I would hold out for the hybrid tho... the k24 with the A or A2 head with either a ep3 or rsx-s tranny if i were going to do it at all.....

the engine is a vtec-e, just like the vx's just with more power..... it runs on regular and is a k.....

it's sort of like doing a half assed k swap, but if you have the money and want a cheap running k go for it.

There's lots of misinformation in here due to people not knowing **** about K-series, but if you don't take my previous advice, please do your own research about everything required to get a k20 running BEFORE you buy the motor. here's my parts list (and this is with some amazing deals): http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13655.

So if you do decide to do a k20a3 swap, I reserve the right to say "I told you so"...

i doubt he wants to spend like 7'gs on swap then spend another 3-4g's to have the set up running properly. depending on type or motor work he gets done he'll be pushing 350whp which for 11g's you can have a killer set up over 400 or 500 whp

yes k series is the next gen and all.... to settle for something when yer gonna pump all that cash out.. i rather wait and get exactly what i want.
