Won't start, at my wits end!!
Hi guys....HELP
I have a 95 1.5L MT with lots of miles. I changed out the plugs and wires and tried to start the car and lots of cranking but it won't start.
I had it dragged over to the dealer and they said it most likely needed a new Distributor or ECU.
I got a new Distributor and installed it and same deal. Changed the ECU and the same thing, cranks but won't start. It doesn't have any spark.
What do I look at next?
I've tried several times to make sure the wires are in the right spot on the dist cap and it doesn't make a difference. One place the car cranks like crazy but nothing, the other it sort of stutters like it wants to start but doesn't. Which one is the number one plug? The manual talkes about a raised mark on the cap but the only thing on my cap is an "A" and a "C". The illustration is poor so I'm sure I have the order correct but I've tried both locations I think is correct but neather work. Clearify it for me if you can.

I basically have almost the same problem. Only my car ran perfectly fine and now it just wont start. It cranks over and all the accessories work fine. I switched out the distributor and still nothing. I am going to try to swap out ecu's in the next couple days. Hopefully that will work.

Re: Won't start, at my wits end!! (Ryan.)
My friend's car had that issue. We changed the ignitor over to the one from my distributor...but no luck
His intake just had a BUNCH of crap on the inside of it. I'm guessing it got all over the sensors. We cleaned it up with some intake cleaner. Then he cranked while holding the throttle all the way open for a long time (open throttle = clear flood mode). I sprayed a little intake cleaner in there, and it started finally.
No idea what the ACTUAL fix was lol. It was just a bunch of crap at the same time.

Because I took it off for the time being. I got a new one but haven't gotten around to putting it on yet.

I'm not one for adding more problems. Your car didn't run correctly, so you removed the intake manifold. I hope you install the new one correctly the first time. If you don't you have added another variable to the problem.

I never said I removed the intake manifold. I removed the intake.
