Woah WTF Weigh LOSS on newer civics??
Firstly I would like to ask you guys to try and verify these weights after reading my post. Ok so I was looking at some weights of the Civics from '92-'00 and when I decided to compile a few into a text file, I was really surprised to see the trend.
'92-'93 DX M/T 2,275 lbs
'94-'95 DX M/T 2,313 lbs
'96 DX M/T 2319 lbs
'97 DX M/T 2370 lbs
'98-'00 DX M/T 2339 lbs
'92-'93 LX M/T 2,319 lbs
'94-'95 LX M/T 2,403 lbs
'96 LX M/T 2387 lbs
'97 LX M/T 2438 lbs
'98-'00 LX M/T 2410 lbs
So, with the weights above in mind, why exactly would the Civic LOSE weight when we all know the car gained in size?? Even more strange, why would the '97 models weigh more than the '96 and '98 despite being in the same generation? What features were added/removed between the '92-'95 civics and '96-'00 civics that could possibly account for them having similar weights and even weighing less!? Kinda hoping someone like NOFX would chime in what with her amazing amount of info on Hondas and whatnot. (Remembers thread about folding backseats)

Well seeing as cars are refined with each year... maybe honda had added more mass to the frame or bigger door bars inside and stuff ect.. then the next year decided against it for money purposes? plus you dont specify a/c equipped or not... maybe your 97 specs all had a/c?
just cuz the outside looks the same doesnt mean the car didnt chance with every year

i'm guessing the LX and DX came with more standard features and/or options available for that model. I have a 96 EX and my friend has a 97 EX theres nothing visable thats different. From those numbers both had 51lbs added. Did they change wheels at all? The frame would be the easiest place to hide the added weight, maybe more sound dampening or the under coating added? Curious to see if we can actually find out where the real difference is.
