Default Wiring up a pivot shift light to a different power source?

Hey guys I was wondering if it is possible to wire up the pivot light to a power source other than the cigarette lighter. Does anyone know how many volts the cigarette lighter is?

Yes, wire it to any 12 volt switched power source.
