Default Wiring Haress Question OBD2A-OBD2B- D series swap

Ok i have a 99 Civic EX. The engine knocks. I have purchased a 98 DX Engine.

I CAN USE the 99EX harness on the 98DX, but ill have to rewire for the 3 wire IAC correct? Then ill have to source a 99 DX ECU Correct?

IIRC you cannot use the 98DX harness in the 99 Car due to OBD incompatability.

If i swap the y8 Intake manifold onto the DX motor, the EX harness will plug in to all the IAC/IAT, but if i run an DX ECU ill get CEL for those senors, andi cant run the EX ECU cause then ill get CEL for VTEC thus not passing emissions.

So my best bet is to rewire the EX harness correct for the DX ENGINE? or purchase a 99 DX harness.

Confirm my thoughts please

Yes, You've got it all figured out. In regards to the engine though, you couldn't find a good Y8 anywhere?
