Wire Harness question for 00 si
I have an ex harness but I put in a si harness so I can use the b16 ecu but when I plugged it in there is only 2 plugs and the harness is not cut. So my ecu has 4 slots 3 that have pins and 1 blank. My harness plugs into 2 and thats it. So what is the 3rd whole with the pins for what am I missing if Im missing anything?

You cannot use a '00 engine harness in your '96.
the '00 harness is obd2B.
Your '96 civic is obd2A.
The harnesses are not interchangeable.
You need to reuse your '96 ex harness, which should be easy considering it is already wired for vtec and knock sensor.

Although the harnesses look similar, all of the ecu pins are in different locations.

You're probably referring to the last clip from the cabin harness... the engine harness only has two, the third is already inside the vehicle. But like already stated, OBD2A != OB2B since the pinouts are completely different.

Use your EX harness, and an OBD2A->OBD2B conversion harness with the SI's ecu if you have it already.

No he cannot.
The two plugs coming from the engine harness will be correct, but the plug coming from his obd2A interior harness has all the pins in the wrong location.
Jeez, how many times does it need to be said?!!?
You cannot use an obd2B harness in an obd2A car!

Have you ever actually done this? Or are you just assmuming?
I have had the displeasure of repinning and putting obd2A plugs on an obd2B engine and chassis harness, but I cannot remember if all the pins on the green plugs stayed on the green plug(or if they were swapped around from plug to plug).
So I cant say for sure if that will work or not.

my friend has a 96ek coupe that used the 99-00 si ecu and harness. its ran fine, the cluster just didnt work.
so how many plugs are on the harness?
grey blue-to the ecu, then a green one and a brown one futher up. but yeah there is an empty slot on the ecu for a plug that the 99-00 si harness doesnt have.

Re: (EJ8Omar)
There are probably 20 wires in that one connector.
NONE of them are in the right location.
You are going to have more problems than just a cluster not working.
