Default Will this work/do anything much?

As some of you know i am converting my D17 LX car to manual, getting all teh stuff i need of antoher car that apparently fell of a truck, its either an 01 or an 02 EX
(fell on its rear end/roof, and rocked ove rthe roof)

Now my question is, if the motor is has vtec (dont even know if it does) can i take the head off of that, (and sum1 mentioned a solenoid) and install that on my car? Will it make my car vtec? and is taht how u get DOHC? cuz from what i heard vtec is only on DOHC??? cuz it utilizes more valves when vtec kicks in?

Anyways if this is even possible, what kinda gain would i notice? Does anyone thing its a bad idea? and why?

ok, I'm not trying to be a jerk but you don't know the diff between dohc and sohc but you're gonna do a tranny swap? that's not good...

your car, and the donor car are sohc, the only stock (current gen) dohc Civic is the Si hatch... and to answer your other problem, there are dohc and sohc vtec motors...

but yes, in theory, if the donor car is a vtec model you should be able to get everything you need to do that swap too... tell you the truth it would probably be easier just to swap in the whole drivetrain if it's not wrecked...

The only way to get dohc is if you get the fluid and add it in with your oil. ITs availble at all Ford Dealers.

But if you can get the tranny and other componets, just swap the motor out. and if you can you need the ecu as well.

W3rd. You can pick it up at autozone too. BTW, I wouldnt suggest doing the tranny swap on your own if you dont know this kind of information.

what the **** is wrong with you people seriously??

Thanks to those who are helping though.

I am not doing ths myself, sum1 else is doing it, and when u say rear diff, what do you mean? the car is FWD isnt it?

Also what fluid are you talking about, u mean like cooling? or the the clutch? lol i have no clue, i just want to be able to get all my **** togheter before we take the car apart and go aww **** now we have to drive and get the stuff again. (his truck gets like 7 mpg and the shops are far away lol)

i think sohcvtec1995 is just being sarcastic saying that i can get DOH with fluid? FU if ur trying to be a d*ck, otherwise, please explain, cuz solo2EG seems to be the only guy who helped thanks for that..

Yes i was being sarcastic, and dnt f me, FU. i did tell you what to do. If you haVE A NON VTEC MOTOR ie dx, lx. and the donor car has a vtec motor then swap it over completely. if you want 2 cams , then you need to go K series. Vtec is not determined on the number of cams you have, its the number of cam lobes. No you dnt have a rear diff. Here is your list of things to swap over.
1a.entire D17 vtec motor, and tranny, with ecu (Optional and a lot easier)
1b. Tranny
2.Ecu
3. Clutch, flywheel, pressure plate
4.Pedal assembly from a 5 speed.
5.Tranny mount
6.Possibly add new wires or remove some.
7.A friendd that knows what they are doing
8.And Honda tech's niffy Search function
there you go have fun, and be sure to search next time so this dosent happen again. good luck

Thanks for helping out that time sohcvtec1995,

BTW looks like i might be popular with my quote in ur sig

atleast people will know im new to all this.

How long (working at a slow but steady pace) will it take for one experienced person and me to do the mini-me and tranny?

If he has room this weekend we might do it then, said for the tranny he would take it easy and do it in 2 days?? that mean i'll be losing about 20 hrs of work pay, lol

Is the block no good in the donor car??? The reason I ask this is that's the only reason you should mini-me rather than just swapping the whole motor and tranny... it will be waaaaaayyyy easier.

Mini-me is definitely recommended. There's a ton of stuff on search that you can find once it's back up. BTW, B-series have two camshafts as well.

Yeah, but I dont think he'll be putting a B series in that car which is why he only mentioned the K.
