Will my 99 Civic, with cold air intake pass smog?

Default Will my 99 Civic, with cold air intake pass smog?



My mom recently had her car smoged and the dood said my car wouldnt pass smog because the intake wasnt "original". Can anyone confirm if this is true? if not, how do you guys get your supped up hondas to pass smog?

Im sorry but im not exactly sure what c.a.i and AEM stand for. It was my bro's car and im not too familiar with cars.

CAI = cold air intake
AEM= advanced engine manegment (brand of part)

we buy smog legal parts, or we put them back to stock b4 we test.

Usually a cold air intake will not effect anything smog wise but I don't have to worry about it.

i usually doesnt, but in california, if you have a modified intake system, you will fail the "visual" part of the smog inspection. that is if the intake is not CARB exempt. some smog shops wont care about intakes b/c they kno that you'll pass tailpipe fine. but more and more shops wont let things slide now b/c theyve been cracking down on lenient smog shops. i went to 8 different smog shops, and none would even touch my b16.
