why NOT to buy an OBX LSD!!!
I did some research before I bought the LSD and some people said that it was a pain in the *** to get axle's out of the trannsmission. I didn't think much of this and though, eh its about half the price of a quaife and I'm not putting down 400+ hp so it should be fine...
BUT WAS I WRONG! 4 hrs and many broken tools later I finally got the ******* passenger side axle out of my b16 tranny and here's what I found:

So you have the older version then? That looks like it would be indicative of the non-beveled side... and it just tore away your spindle as it "released" it. Sucks... but yah...

new one has bevelled edges not many people at all have had issues with taking the axles out with the new one.

That's good to know. Thanks for the info.
This thread is just to make potential buyers weigh out the pros and cons and hopefully just end up buying the Quaife. It's more but it's a lot better.

yes people should take apart the obx lsd and inspect the bevel issue.

I'm suprised with all the battling between the axle and the diff, the AXLE broke first...
did anything in the lsd crack or break when you fought with it?

Re: (igo4bmx)
to me it looks as if the C-clip was off centered when you tyried to remove the axle. I have actually seen this happen many times on STOCK vehicles. Don't get discouraged about the quality of something becasue of a problem arose over somehting that happens often.

Re: (DirtySol)
No. it was definitely the LSD. It did it to 2 axles in the last 3 days. We finally took the LSD out of the case, not only to find that all the bolts on the dif were loose, but to also find that it was definitely not bevelled on the inside (it was a 90 degree angle and with such tight clearances to begin with it's no wonder the c-clip wasn't able to crimp when being pulled off).
We took the dif apart and with the help of my friend the dremel tool we bevelled the inside edges ourselves.
Now it works perfect

Actually the inside of the LSD was spotless when we took it apart. It was still sharp as hell with the 90 degree angle... but we fixed that problem.
