my battery light comes on when i start the car i goes away when i rev the motor. when i drive i goes away but when i come to stop it comes back on. coul it be the alternator or the battery, i have owned the car for 3 years and have not changed either, oh yea it`s a 91 civic. any help would be apperciated

Sounds like the alternator is on its way out. When you rev the motor, the voltage increases back to somewhat normal levels, so the light turns off. I'm pretty sure that AutoZone will check this for free.

just start the car then pop off the battery terimal

if the car dies you know the alternator is fucked if the car is fine you know its the battery

check your battery cables....the negative side could be loose... thats my guess
