Who's rockin stock struts???
who is sportin coilovers on stock struts, how bad is the ride and how much difference did people that switched over notice? are performance struts a very worthy upgrade? the reason i ask is i have GC's im putting on and my pass. side rear strut bolt seized up (as usual) i could cut off the nut thats welded on the strut and get just rplace it with some performance struts but im kinda tight on money right now cause i havnt payed my car off yet, also i dont wanna go through the hassle of taking the suspension off later again after installing my gc's TIA for any responses

Swapping suspension is easy. If you were to install new struts after you have the GC on there, it should take less than an hour for all four. You don't have any springs to compress or anything using those coilovers. As for the ride, it will go to **** if you dump your car on stock struts. A cheap worthy upgrade are Tokico Blues, which should run about $280 or less. They also have a good warrenty.

I've been on stock shocks with my GC's for 8 months or so (dropped flush with the top of the tires) and was on sportlines for 2 years before that and my stockers are still fine. Handling is fine as well. I know they will eventually go, but till then I'm happy.

Well when you replace your springs you are going to have to take your OEM spring/strut assembly appart anyways. Not sure how you are going to do that if your bolt is seized. But when buying new struts you are going to have to reuse parts of the old assembly even when replacing the struts and springs. So eigther way you are going to have to take it all apart. You may have to use a spring compressor to remove your OEM springs from your OEM struts, that is the hardest (most time consuming) part in my opinion. Once you get your OEM springs off its pretty easy to swap spring and struts.
I'm riding on Tein S tech Springs and OEM struts right now, of course if you can afford it a 1 piece coil over is the way to go. Tein TYPE FLEX

it really depends on how many miles you have on the stock struts. I had 72k miles on mine and one blew with a week after putting on Eibach Pro-kits.
GC's with stock struts might work OK, but the ride will be harsh. The stockers (even when new) don't have the right amount of damping to allow for higher spring rates. I'd suggest going with KYB AGX, or Koni Sports. That way you have the adjustability.

I had a similar problem. my rear strut bolt seized and so I just put the ground controls right on the stock struts... it's almost a year on them and they ride fine. I'm looking to upgrade, but until then I'm dropped about 1.7 inches

i got Dropzone coilovers w/ stock struts and the ride is pretty decent. Only when i hit big bumps i start to fly due to the softness of the coilovers/struts.

I have RS*R springs on my stock struts (almost 115k on them) and it rides nice. Not super stiff, and I know they won't last forever, but I'll drive em till they do blow.

I am also rocking the stock struts, i have been on neuspeed race springs for little over 1 year now and i have not blown one yet, i will be replacing them after summer time probably with some Koni's or somthing of that nature, but to be honest my ride isn't to bad, just a bit bouncy, i have rode in cars A LOT worse.

Re: Who's rockin stock struts??? (CXinthemaking)
Stock dampers will cause a bouncy ride when used with Ground Control's default spring rates (350f/250r). Go with KYB AGX at the minimum for Ground Controls with default rates, but keep in mind that KYB's warranty is very limited - any use with "coilovers" and any ride height lowered more than 1.5" will void the warranty, so you won't be covered if you blow one. The AGX are good for spring rates up to around 350 lb-in or so though.
Koni Sports are of course the preferred option, but if you're not looking to spend quite that much, then Tokico Illuminas (not Blues!) and KYB AGX can get the job done just as well.
Do it right the first time. Ghetto-rigging things is just asking for trouble.
