whirring sound past 2K RPM...TOB?
my tranny doesnt grind gears but after appr. 2500 RPM, a whirring/grounding sound comes on. also, when i engine brake, it whirs/grounds. the best way i can describe it is you know that sound that the tranny makes when ur idling, then when u depress the clutch it goes away? it sounds like that [but noticeably louder] when it comes on its like VTEC but less pleasent . meaning its either making noise or not at all, it doesnt get louder gradually. its off from idle to about 2500 RPM then it sounds off. is my tranny going bad or do i need a new clutch? the clutch disk itself is fine. i can still chirp 2nd gear no problem, but perhaps the bearing is shot? its a D16Y8 with 130K TIA
