Where to find 1.5L SOHC Cams?
No one seems to sell cams for the 1.5L D15. Anyone know where to look? I found Gude but I am hearig some bad things about them and I don't want a regrind. Any ideas, and yes I did a search

sohc non-vtec if so, then use 90-1 CRX si, due to block height difference, you will require a cam gear otherwise it will retard the timing by about 5deg., but this will give you a killer top end.
for JDM D15B SOHC VTEC VTi motor, use a ZEX 59300 cam or Crower or new Skunk2

I have cams for the D15. They are regrinds but are parkerized for proper break-in. My cams will give you 10.4mm lift (GSR High lobe has 10.4mm lift)
Good stuff. Honda heads like and flow well with higher lift.
If you want new I can track down some new blanks and have them ground for you.
Drop me a line if you want to see a pic of the cam.
I can also locate some dual springs and retainers for you if you like.
Hopes this helps you out.

yes an email address would be good, also can you put a D16 VTEC head on the D15 block? Is there a reliable place to get a CRX Si head? this is for a 95 CX BTW

Well see my motor is kinda weird, its a contmplation(sp?) of parts, so here is the show down...
89 d15b6 block
99 da6y7 Head little head work done.
99 y8 gasket.
95 SI trans.
DX ecu
one wire o2
Best run so far is 16.1 with a fucked up ecu, since i only have a one wire o2, car is running in limp mode, fuel cut off is at 6800 instead of 7400, hope to have that fixed soon.
Any how I would like to get a nice high lift cam for the car.

There are many choices. I personally like 1.5 as they seem to run harder than 1.6's.
I also have a D-series vtec head and they are good too.
D-series SI cams are not aggressive enough. The proper cam will take your engines performance to the next level and make all your I/H/E bolt-ons worthwile.
IMO, you don't need Vtec to run hard it just allows for manageable idle. If you have close ratios gears and high compression you won't sacrifice much.

The non-vtec SI heads and CX heads are the same the last time I checked. These are the high efficiency heads with the spark plug holes on the intake side of the valve covers.

You can put a Vtec head on the non-vtec blocks. You just have to make sure you check the timing belt clearance with the driver side engine mount, and other things like that.

I have custom cams for the D16a6 which you can also use on the D15 that you have.
I sold one recently to a guy up in the bay area. And with header, intake. Exhaust. The cam, cam gear, and some tuning, he told me they were able to get 114hp to the wheels with just that setup.. That’s a big difference compared to the stock 1.5L motor.(keep in mind that its Wheel HP)
email me if you want to ask him some questions.

Re: Pics of the Non-Vtec D-cam (Rocket)
Rocket can you post some more info on the cams, like what gains are expected, what motor they are Ideal for.
Also, do you have a little bigger lift cam, I dont care about idle, just want alot more top end.

Re: Pics of the Non-Vtec D-cam (monsta)
I haven't got a chance to take the test car to the dyno yet but the mid-range and upper rpm is much improved.
I can put more lift on the cam but there's only so much that can be grounded before you run out of threads on the tappet screws. I am looking into some new blanks at the moment.
10.4mm lift should be plenty for the 29mm intake valves.

Re: Pics of the Non-Vtec D-cam (Rocket)
Rocket, I would prefer mine made out of blanks, I am just not to trustworthy of regrinds, any how, if you can get your hands on blanks let me know, I can get base base numbers on a dyno, and then numbers with the cam, maybe we can work out some kinda deal.

That's great. I am a big fan of racers who want to be part of the development process. Send me an e-mail at Rocket@HondaSaver.com so that you can be in my address book.
Regrinds are fine for a certain amount of lift/duration. But the more radical profiles work best on new blanks. As far as durability, proper break-in makes them lasts with no problem. The cam actually gets work hardened by the rockers.
