Where do the following hoses go? HELP NEEDED ASAP
Alright, here is the problem. I have a d16y8 engine in my 89 crx. Yesterday i seemed to have blow off a few lines running from the radiator to the engine. I connected one in the front, but there is a valve stem looking thing in the back behind the valve cover to the left side a little that is spewing water, and i can not figure out what hose/plug is supposed to go over this. Also, there is a valve stem coming off the valve cover, am i supposed to run a hose to this? Also, where do i run a hose from my CAI to? Please, if anyone has shots of their d16y8, please post, i really need to figure this out soon as im an hour away from home. THANK YOU.

A pic would really help.
For your first valve steam, is that on the radiator or on the valve cover from the head? If its on the head that shouldnt be spewing water.
And for the piece that goes to your CAI that goes to the piece thats behind the valve cover that your saying is spewing water. Let me try to find you a pic.
Edit: is this what the piece looks like? This is off of Google
Does it look something like that connected more into the valve cover? on the left? Then yea thats what the CAI hooks to. Sorry if i had a Digi camera i could show you alot better. But either way water shouldnt be coming out of that.

Well there are 2 valve stem looking things
1. On the valve cover, coming off the left corner
2. One behind the valve cover.. i filled the radiator, and water started to come out of it.. and when i turn the engine on, water spews out of it.
edit - no thats not the valve stem, its behind the valve cover, and it sticks upwards.. and water comes out of it apprently.

1. If its on the valve cover itself in the back alittle then thats the hose that connects to your CAI or Intake on a stock on. Its a emissions part.
2. Im not really sure where this one is sticking straight up on the valve cover, or are you talking about the radiator cover?

Thanks, alright, i know where the CAI hose goes too now.. now the important part
Its a piece behind the valve cover, on the upper back side of the engine block, twords the left, facing the engine from the front of the car. Water seems to come out of it when i put water in the radiator, as well as when i turn the car on, it pours out like a fountain.
edit - Its a valve stem to the left of the first fuel injector, like so -

Sorry, i can not take a pic, im an hr from home, and need to get this fixed soon. Can someone just go look at their SOHC engine, its to the left of the first fuel injector, it should have a hose connected to it.. i need to know where this hose goes to.. or what goes on it.. all i know is its somehow connected to the radiator, and water is spewing out of it. Not good.

Man ive been looking at a bunch of Valve covers and i have no clue what your talking about. Does the car run without it covered? Do you see any lines that are lose? Because if you could drive home and snap a pic that would help alot of people out. I dont have a D series or a digicamera so i cant take one. But ill keep looking for you.
Edit: By any chance is it in this picture?

nah it definantely couldn't be on his valve cover. I have a y8 and the only stem on the valvecover is the pcv hose stem. I think it has to be one of the coolant lines running into the left side of the intake manifold.

the "valve stem" on the back of the radiator is for a transmission cooler. You should just have this capped off.
