Where can i rev to??
hey i just swapped a jdm obd2 b16a into my 96 ek, i converted to an obd1 ecu and am running a skunk 2 chipped ecu, vtec 5700 and redline 9500, everything is stock except for the type r manifold, just wanted to know if it would be safe to rev my motor to 9000 rpms (not even thinking about 9500 on stock valvetrain!!!)

You don't even make power any more power past redline anyway so why would you want to? I wouldn't, but then again, it isn't my motor.

you can do it but be prepare to have some internal damage
theres a reason why they made it 8200
unless you upgrade your rods piston and otehr crap
dont even think about it

Pistons, rods, valves can get bent. Ever heard of valve float? Like almost everyone else has said, don't do it. You can get away with it every once in a GREAT while. but 9k on a regular basis, I wouldn't bet on it.

Maybe he knows that your tach isn't always exact. And is trying to keep you from going over redline.

bwahahaha, tachs aren't usually off by that much. sometimes a couple hundred and maybe even 500, but 1200 rpms? i highly doubt it.

Since your car makes no power after 8250 Rpm, you'll get better time slips (if you are consistent on your launches) shifting at the stock 8200 rpm. Plus your engine WILL handle up too 8500 rpm stock. Shifting at 9000 rpm you'll be out of the power band more than your in it. If you just love 9000 rpm( like I do,9500 rpm) then get your self some TITANIUM RETAINERS & DOUBLE VALVE SPRINGS then if you keep your stock cams you can just advance both intake & exhaust to shift the power-band up higher (causing A LOT more stress on your motor). Get some cams. Then REV HARD GUY.
P.S. Start saving for a tranny also.
