Wheel Size Issues
I am getting new rims and was wondering whether 17x8 would be to thick of a rim for my hatchback VX. Can somone provide some insight whether this is something I should take into consideration? Either 17x7 or 17x8. Would it look odd if I put 17x7 in the front and 17x8 in the back?

Re: Wheel Size Issues (95Hatcher)
Not to come off as grumpy or anything(I have had my morning coffee)...BUT, have you searched on this...it's been covered, many times. It's up in the upper right hand corner of the page...

Re: Wheel Size Issues (95Hatcher)
OK fine. I couldn't find much either w/o spending much time there.
f/r sizing- Unless you're drag only, different sizes front and rear will look silly on a front driver(drag race set up would be front wider for largest contact patch, and rears skinnies for weight/drag reduction). Never will it make sense to have a wider tire in the rear of a FWD vehicle.
Width-7.5" wide is as wide as i'd go on a civic/'teg. I would stick as close to a 40mm offset as possible here. If you go to a 45, you'll could have suspension clearance issues. If you go too far the other way(ie: 35-38 offset) you could have fender/quarter/sheetmetal rubbing issues. I have 17X7 40 offset wheels with 205/40-17 tires on my '94 civic. I've lowered it quite at bit, and as a result my flanges are modified/rolled. If you dont go to low, and use a 42-45mm offset with a 7" wide wheel, you shouldn't have much of an issue. Just remember: the lower the number on the offset, the further out the wheel will be.
Hope that helps.
