Re: wheel size (civic90)
Depends on offset as well as rim size. I've seen 18s on a Civic without spacers or rolling fenders before. Just keep in mind that the ride is going to suck with 17s, and tire selection for a 16 sucks.

Yup, what he said....215/35/18 tire/rim size with the proper offset will fit without modification but your ride will suck ***...

So what if it happens again and she has to replace the expensive rims and tires. Replacing tires on 17" rims can cost around $150 each.

I have 16x7 konigs on my 94 cx (for 4 years), and run 205-40-16. at this size there are a few good inexpensive tires to choose from, plus you can lower the car a lot without rubbing (Dunlop fm901's don't rub at all BFG eruo's rubbed only on the hardest of turns). There are only a few tires to choose from in the 205-45-16 size, and the car looks more race & not show. As for 215-40-16, there is only one or two to pick from, and if you don't like those your out of luck (plus I think rubbing would be a little more frequent). Finally there is the 215-45-16 falken azenus sport (which everybody says is a great street/sprint tire), but I'de bet they rub like crazy on lowered cars. Plus Azenus sport tires are wider than their stated size.
With 17's, you would only be able to use 205-40-17, and I think they look a little to big for a civic, but thats just my opinion. Tires are a bit more expensive too.
