in JDM land they had a special civic 4-door called a Ferio. It had like a b16 and some extra pole switches and extra ugly fabric. Oh and it was mad tiiiiiight rhd.
I think it was 92-95, but they may of continued into 00. I dont pay much attention to them.
So you know all the people with slow 4 auto doors slap ferio badge on there because they think the guys driving ferrari will be like "whoa, that guys fast"

I think it's just a term they use outside of the US to describe a four dour civic. It's called a Civic Ferio, like how over here we call 2 Doors Coupes(?). I don't know if it has anything to do with a "special" 4 door. Because I believe 96-00 4 Door civic are also called Ferio, not just in JDM land, but like Europe maybe. Don't quote me on this thou.

Well not that I would necessarily know any better but I was under the impression that the Ferio was the name for any of the low emission Civics that were released in Japan in 92, same time as the EG. I've heard of even JDM hatchbacks being referred to as Ferios.

Never heard of this before. Every single ferio I've seen were four doors, and I've seen quite a few (Not in the US obviously).

actually the term coupe and sedan came from the older cars. And it wasnt about how many doors it had.
You could have a 4 door coup or a 2 door sedan. It was just less common. A coupe was referred to a car that had no support pillar/ bar running up the drivers or passenger side where the door. Picture no pillar bar in between the front and rear side windows.
Sedans have that mid pillar between the windows.
People just became acusomed to calling coupes 2 door because it was more common.

I see. Good info. So B-pillar is what differentiates coupe from sedan?

No no. A Ferio is a 4-door civic in Japan. Check the link below for a pretty-good list of civic model history... (start at 5th gen for Ferio)

INteresting. I had no idea this was the history. Such that the RX8 fits the classic coupe description.
