Default Whats this battery looking thing in my 99 SI

so yesterday i bought a 99 civic SI that was totaled from the rear end for parts (B16A2, suspension, interior, etc..) because i plan on doing a motor swap into my 98 EK for a senior project.

anyways to my point, i feel pretty comfortable doing the swap, but when i was looing around the engine bay, i found this battery looking thing, below the intake mani to the left that the engine harness was hooked up to and im not quite sure what it is, so this might be a noob q, but what exactly is that and how do i go about pulling this when i do the swap/ is it essential to the motor/tranny/ecu?

its that black thing with two hoses on top right side of it.

thank you

Can't really see is that well but I think you're referring to a charcoal canister. It's a big black cylinder mounted to the firewall? It's for emissions control.

EDIT: Better picture 99% Charcoal Canister.
