What year best for h22?
Hi i am new to the forum.
I am planing on buying a 92+ hatch or coupe within the next couple months and i am wondering what year/model would be the easiest/best to swap in an h22a motor into it ?
I wana know now so i can keep a look out for something that i may want.
Thanks

Pretty much every 92+ civic is going to be just about the same amount of work to get the motor into.
As far as years of Prelude to look for the H22 from, try the 97+ non SH model. That should be easiest due to the non LSD equivelant thing they slapped in the SH tranny and it will be easier to find a 200 hp model (as with the 92-96 only the VTEC model had the DOHC VTEC H22).

I'd run a pre 97(tell me if I'm wrong) as they are closed deck and the jdm model is 200hp and the usdm is 190hp.........................John

Don't let this turn into a H22 vs. whatever else thread.
The H22 is more torquey than a B18C5 (which is pretty equivelant in cost after all is said and done) but is a tougher swap. H22 can make good power, but the transmission is not my cup of tea.

Re: What year best for h22? (IsamuDyson)
A b18 block will yield similar hp numbers, lower torque numbers( Granted it's naturally aspirated) but thats made up for with shorter gearing. I dunno man, my car is great on the street, alot easier to drive than my em1 which is a B16, unfortunately I have never driven a b18anything car so i can't tell from experience. The biggest gripe most people have is the cable tranny of the H, I like it alot, no one else does, most like the b-series trannies because of the rod/shaft linkage, and shorter gearing. You need to set-up the suspension very well on an H car whereas with the B you can run alot softer springs up front and get away with it. And don't ever let anyone tell you an H can't handle well. It can it's just tougher and a totally different animal(although mod for mod a b will prob always outhandle an h). Also theres still ALOT more aftermarket choices for a B series...............................John( yeah I own a b-car and an h-car and I know how they handle, thank you)
