What would I have to do to my '95 CX....
There's this kid at my school with a 1955 Chevy with some 'big block' he said. He runs low 13's and quicker and that's on 8 inch wide radials (read: no traction). It's a rust bucket but it runs quick and I wanna show him the power of Honda. I have a '95 CX hatch stock for right now With me having saved up a lil over $10k what would be the best setup to run with this kid? I'm assuming some sort of swap and I already have a light car so traction for me will be an issue. So with $10k what can I do to run low 13's high 12's?

if your doing it to beat his car you are missing the point. But if your doing it for the shear joy of doing it and having a faster car...then get a b18 engine b or c and boost the f*ck out of it...make sure you replace all the internals and maybe a small shot of nos and your good to go...but before this do the suspension...have fun and do a search for suspension setups, nos, b18 swaps...then your on your way to killing some v8s

so ur gonna spend 10k just to say u beat a 1955 car, geesh, why dont u take the time to research everything and do things the way u like it, not because u have to show someone up, well if u want to go that way,
then drop in a h22a and a 150 shot, there u will be smokin muscle

yeah that would work too...but if your going to do this...you won't ever be happy because once the v8 gets some nos he will kick your *** all over again...you might be a stock v8 or even a lightly modified v8...but not a crazy modified v8....just food for thought.

I want to have a quick car anyways but I'm just using him as a baseline. I AIM'ed him and he said it was a 7.4 L. What type of power do those put out to the wheels? And what type of power should I be aiming for to run low 13's?

No, last year in auto's class my teacher said it was weird that he could wedge a big block in there. And for me having $10k. I've worked since I was 15 20 hours a week. I just save and save. I'm feeling that I need to spend it after all this hard work. Oh yeah, and it's an automatic... Does that mean that his car has less power than a manual would in his car?

In that case I would recomend that you do an h22 swap to begin with.just there you'll have about 170 whp compare to your d15 that only has about 45whp. if you have any question you can e-mail me and i'll try to help you out

So... from what you guys are saying I should get either a B18 or a H22. The most that should get is like 200 hp right? Wouldn't I need like another 200 hp to run low 13's? All motor, super, turbo, nitrous? Also, should I get a head with vtec or is it really needed if I have 300+ hp? Because I thought all vtec did was make a cam with a weak profile more fuel efficient on the bottom and run like a normal cam up top. Wouldn't it be better just to get the specs of the actual vtec portion (top half) and get cams with that profile all through the rpm range?
And since I can't post more than 5 posts per 24hrs to the posts below....... I already have the 95 cx hatch. And all of that Type-R stuff..... with 10k I think I can afford better than stock japanese parts..... Also I already have a scholarship so

Nah u dont need that much more power, u could just go CrVtec (Fully B20B or Z Block with a B16 or Gsr head, Type-r intake manifold, CTRCivic Type-r Cams Etc...Etc.....), you'll be running hard then. Low 13's maybe high 12's if y can drive and u lighten the car a lil more.Hey a lil Nos isn't a bad idea either

7.4 = 454ci. A very nice platform to build on.
If I had $10k in my bank, spending all of that on mods for a car would be the last thing I would be thinking about. Save that money and use it for something that will actually give you a return, like school.

Invest $9,000, spend 500 on n20 and 500 on suspension, strip interior, and dead weight, then kill him in the straight and corners. Your motor will most likey blow from the nitrious after a while, then maybe get your swap done.
Down the road you'll have more saved then the fool with a rustang, then buy a damn s2000.
