Default what should one pay for a 96+ hatch (stock)

I am looking for a 96+ hatch for my wife and since I know only about 'ludes and Crx's I thought I would ask the guys who talk about this car daily. Trim model is moot but would like a five speed I live in San Diego shoot some numbers at what I should expect to pay.

jsut for reference, i bought my 97 dx hatch SHELL for 3500 with bunch of goodies on it...so i think a stock condition vehicle would be 4000-5500 in good condition i think...

i price it at that level cuz i believe i got a pretty good deal on my shell.

I bought my 99 hatch for $5900 a few months back. I think $4000 to $5000 is good.

I got mine for 4,500 but that was like 2 years ago. So I'm probably saying like 3000 to 4000.

I paid around 5500 for a 98 hatch with 20,000 mi and a mint exterior and interior. They go anywhere between 3500-6000 depending on condition and accessories...
