Default What to look for in new car? EG vs. EK

Alright everyone I'm going to start looking for a new car in the next month or so. I still want to get another Civic because there is an ungodly amount of Integras in my area. My question is what are some things to look out for when buying. What are some of the pro/cons of a EG and same for a EK. I'm looking to spend around 5 or 6 grand. TIA

Yeah the hatch will get a B18c1 by mid summer so I already figured that the motor wouldn't have to be the best, just good enough to last like 2 months. Anyone else?

Check rust spots make sure you wont have to do any body work under the fenders and such. I would check arround the head gasket and make sure there isnt alot of build up from oil. drive it arround feel the cluth and tranny make sure no bearing are scraping arround, listen under the hood for knocking valves.

Thats what i would do if i was going to spend arround 5 grand on a car.

Are there any models that will make the swap any easier to do? How much have most of you paid for your hatches and what kind of condition did they come in?

Damn that's a good deal, So far all of the hatches I have found are totall rip offs, or automatics i dont want to have to pay for a manual conversion too. I have a feeling it could take a while to find the right one.

Matt, i'm not sure about B18C's but i know for sure that B18B's bolt right into the EG engine bay without requiring motor mounts. That's one less thing you need to buy

forget about EK or EG model first......look for rust spots, etc first....those are alot more important than the actual model

rust spots are easy to get rid of unless there isnt a hole in the panel. body work isnt really that difficult.

make sure you check EVERYTHING. i suggest taking it into a shop and have them perform tests (only like $30).. and do everything before you buy the car. carfax, turning sharp, high speeds, reversing, condition inside and out, notice any defects and find out how long its been since things have been changed (timing belt, oil, air filter etc etc)
