Default what kind of head is a y7?

i'm pretty sure i burned a valve on my d15 head, so i'm going to do a head swap since it'll be a hell of a lot easier than doing valve work myself. i don't have the tools to do it and i want to get rid of my car anyway.
anyway, i found a d16y7 head for sale and i was wanting to know if it would fit on my b7 bottom end? has anyone tried it? is it a vtec head? how many valves? sohc? is it obd-II or obd-I? because my d15b7 is obv an obd-I.

D16Y7 is an OBD2 96-00 single cam non vtec head that's found on DX and LX's, and it has 16 valves.. Any D series head/block from 92-00 will match up with any other D series from 92-00...

Nope just re-use your D15 alternator, distributor, and injectors... And you can keep your same ECU..

I thought you have to use the obd2 distributor with a Yseries head, aren't the mounting positions different on a pre 96 head?

Anyhow a y7 head is like stated a non vtec sohc 16valve head

Nope, the Y7 was made from 96-00, they're all OBD2. 96-98 were OBD2A and 99-00 were OBD2B.

No, and yes. The '92-'95 D-series VTEC heads are the ones that have different distributor mounting points. But the '92-'96 non-VTEC D-series heads have the same mounting positions as the '96-'00 D-series.

You're also going to need 1 head stud/bolt for the Y7 head. That will go in the back passenger side corner.
