Ok, i'm new to the honda scene, recently i purchased a 97 dx, yeah the motor is shitty, but i got, i/h/e, fuel rail, fuel pump, tuned ecu. and it's fine. But what exactly does everyone mean by rice, the exhaust, i got apexi n1, is that ricey, is my car rice, it's a 4 door model, i got hx rims and it's dark metallic green, i wanted to get a sleeper looking car. What exactly makes a car rice, if i put black altezzas on my car would it be rice? I'm just a confused newbie and i don't want peaple making fun of me cause i have a slow 4 door car, i'm poor and can't affor extra B18C's to drop in my civic.

I don't have anything rice(imo), no sterio, no wings, no big *** rims, no paint job(factory), all stock lights, but people still call me the riceboy just because of the car I drive. Even if you were at the races and beat a v8, people will be like "did you see that ricer beat that stang" or something along those lines. Either way just don't worry about it.

OK, but i just don't get it, i race these stupid kids with really nice crx's and civics with body kits and aluminum spoilers and motor swaps, and i beat them then they keep talkin **** about my car being all ricey and ****, is there something that i am not catching on to, the only aftermarket parts i have are under my hood, no outside parts. and yeah, i do have a low sef esteem.

outside there is a redneck mentality direct d towards asian cars that have been modified in anyway and much of the time even if it hasnt...withing the import community the *rice* term is usually direct d towards non-performance items such wings, monsters spoilers, stickers announcing mods u dont have..i think ur getting the message..but, like the color of ur wheels dont worry about what others opinions are as long as ur happy and feel good about ur car

we only bitch about rice **** to punks who have oversized spoilers which do **** for performance, stickers up the ***, over customising the exterior and interior for that matter and some ******* neon lights....BUT if ur car's got ***** with respectable 1/4 mile runs...u can put what ever the heck u want on ur car.

IMO, rice is specifically the illusion of performance. Rice has nothing to do with aesthetics. Ugly != Rice.

Anything you do to your car to make it LOOK faster than it truly is, is rice.

Stickers for parts you don't have, rebadging your car without reason, things like that blowoff valve sound generator that makes it seem like you've got a turbo. That's BIG rice right there.

I'd even consider a big loud exhaust ricey if it's your only mod too. Loud and overt exhaust signals power. If you don't have power to back up your noise, you've got rice.
