What to do with you, need your thoughts...
Hey i have a 2000 honda civic ex stock with everything si besides the rear disc, vin, and b16. I hate how it drive it is slow as ****. So i was looking at buying a 98-01 integra gsr, but dont really have the money just yet. But now i get to thinking and i could do a swap for so much cheaper than getting a new car. So what would you guys do. I know this question is asked every day but oh well...
1-Swap a B18c
2-Swap a B16a
3-Buy a GSR

The car is a good base from which to start from...minus it being OBDII. You could boost the Y8 that's already in it as well; but if you like the idea of a swap then go for it.

a buddy of mine.. has the same thing.. he hates how slow it is too... on top of payments that he has to make.. HAHAAA... he likes the idea of the underdogg... having that single cam with a turbo... swap is a good idea i think. i told him a bunch of times to do a swap... id rather him sell the car though. hmm its ur choice.. if u like the car u have do a swap. i like my EK... i did a gsr swap and i am satisfied with internals.

i'd go with b18c1 swap.
myself i did a b16 in my 95 dx and love it, ran a 14.39.
The gsr engine has more hp and torque than the b16.
Though i have not riden in a gsr swapped civic, they are good with boost and would beat a swapped b16.......depending on the driver
the reason i went with the b16 is $ factor

The money factor is why i put the b16 on the list. About how much would a full b16 swap be in socal, anyone know? But i think if i swaped a b16 and did internals, i think i would have a pretty fun dailyd... But i dont know if i should just wait and save up for the b18. With the gsr i risk getting it stolen more then a si look alike.

Im confused, you want the cheapest thing to make the car fast. Turbo it. Nuff said.
Your talking about swapping in a new motor that will bump you up a couple horse power and itll cost you a lot of money or you could boost it and jump up over a hundred horsepower for MAYBE alittle over a grand.
This is what I'm looking at with MY single cam.
Stock D15B 130 hp, turboed STREET tune...~230 hp stock internals. 500$ with lsd tranny.
B18c - 178 hp no turbo. 2599$-4000$ with tranny.
B16a 158 - 169 hp no turbo. 1350$ - 1750$ with tranny.
GSR's B17a - 160 hp no turbo. Well the new car. Dont know the price not goin on KBB to find a price.
The turbo setup with these are either kits or pieced together INCLUDING tune.
500$ + (I'll give a range) 1200$-1500$ = 1700$-2000$ for a reliable 230 hp engine.
2599$-4000$ + 2000$-4000$ = 4599$-8000$ for 300 hp, maybe more.
1350$-1750$ + 2000$-4000$ = 3350$-5750$ for 275 hp, maybe more.
GSR, I dont even know cause you want to buy the whole car. But prolly around the same hp output of the B16a.
I just see it like this, 500$ engine + 600$ turbo setup(pieced together) + 600$ tune = ALOT cheaper then swapping in the engines you're talking about.
And there is room to improve on the single cam with the capabilities of running 500 hp and running 9's at the track.
If Im wrong anywhere please feel free to correct me, and Ill change my post.

Re: (zoso)
If you were talking to me then you missed the point of my post all together.
Let me condense the post above...
For CHEAPER then a B series swap you can have a turboed single cam pushing more horsepower then said B series.

lol. i do hate fillin that tank theses days. but its definitely worth it. I've had it swapped for a while now and it hasn't done me wrong yet. Ive traveled over 1,200 in a week up and down the coast a couple of times. I have extreme confidence in it. But everyones got there own thing.
