what do i do for top end power?
i got a 93 dx hatch and a friend of mine has a 92 vx. we both have ls swaps in our hatch. he has a 94 ls swap with 98 tranny i have a complete 99 ls swap. they are both stock except for cai. i raced him the day after we got our swaps and i will pull him about a car to a car and a half right off the line, then on top end, he'll pass me and leave me about a car to a car and a half.
what should i do for more top end power?
the only thing different that we have is he has 2.5" piping with no cat and i have 2.25" piping with a cat. we both have an apexi
muffler.

ur buddy is getting more top end cuz of the 2.5 piping and running no cat..
but for all round performance id go with the 4-2-1 header and keep the cat. intact or maybe go with a hi-flow one
u could go with a 2.5" cat. back though..that ll give u a little better top end

if you really want to keep the ls motor.. I suggest.. JDM 4-1 header..with a 2.5 cat or 2.25 cat... and maybe possibly if u can afford it some crower 403s...403s do not require upgrading the valvetrain.. but honestly the biggest difference u can make is getting a gsr tranny or a lighter flywheel or both =P trust me I have a ls motor and when I had a gsr tranny and a 8lb flywheel that baby was quick.. but overall top speed is sacrificed good luck.... or go crazy.. CTR pistons.. crower 405s upgraded valvetrain.. smsp header.. okay I'll stop dreaming and go to sleep..

He pulls on you because his exhaust is not as restrictive as yours. Plus he has a slightly lighter body(unless he's heavy and your skinny then it all just evens out ).
Work on your exhaust, get a nice header(I'd go DC 4-2-1), 2.5 cat and b-pipe.
After that if you still want to go faster you can swap out trannies, or some nice Crower 403, or 404 if you really want some power.
Skunk2 manifold is nice too.
Hope that helps.

throw some ZEX on it , i got a 95 LS swap in a 92 si (heavier than both u and ur friends dx and vx) and with a 65 shot u will take a full second off ur time im sure. plus zex is the safest kit out, just dont get NOS happy and get addicted. i only went thru 1.5 bottles in the 5 or so months my car was out.

don't have power steering. didn't put it on when i got the swap, so i don't have the belt on either. what about the cat, hollow it out or leave it alone?
