4-1 headers, you get more performance on the high end. my friend got one on his ls, the car improved on the freeway

The known facts:

4-1: Provides better top end power with the sacrifice of low end power/torque
4-2-1: Provides better low end-mid range power while sacrificing top end power

Some of the more expensive headers like SMSP and Hytech have created 4-2-1 designs which create the best of both, but are very pricey. You just have to shop around.

More or less on a budget, if you're rev'n past 6500 then go 4-1, because in a race or on a dyno, youre going to need the power up top. If not, then go 4-2-1 to make better torque down low since the high end is un-available. Its more of a personal decision as to which way this debate can go. Personally it gave me a headache just typing this

I have a dc 4-2-1 header in my d16z6 and I have no complaints.

honestly...I didnt notice a real big gain with the header, I mean..I only have intake and exhaust anyways..but hey, its better than having stock header.

I have a DC 4-1 header on my mighty D16Y7 along with the stock catback. I must say it sounds like ****; like an enraged bumblebee. It's drives better than with the stock pos though.

I have DC 4-2-1 w/stock exhaust...no difference off the line, 60-90 pulls much smoother than before. 4-1 headers wouldn't really help a mostly stock d series, the motor doesn't rev high enought to get any kind of benefit. 4-1 headers also have ground clearance issues...if you're lowered, you'll prolly scrape a lot.

My brother has a 4-2-1 one as well, made by DC. Mine is a 4-1. I must admit his car sounds better than mine. My exhaust is stock.

Just last week I installed my DC 4-2-1 as well as a Tanabe SRM, and I was shocked at the difference in my performance.
I still need to reset the ecu to see if that has any impact.
I decided to go with a 421 for a couple of reasons..1. D16z6, I never rev up to 7k, 2. my car is lowered with springs, so a 4-1 would scrape 3. Low-Mid Range boost, I mainly drive between 35-55 mph, stop and go, so this works for me.

yeah you only use the added tq. from the 4-2-1 in 1st gear thats it, after that you are 4-5k++ you don't use it so that is why I got the 4-1 for top end!

I have dc 4-2-1 header...low-mid improved and the top end pulls "as strong" (hehe 4 banger) as it ever did.

4-1 headers allow more top end flow, while 4-2-1 allow alot of midrange with not as much gain on the top end. 4-1 is generally better for a honda because they are not known for being torque monsters, but for revving to hell and back. I would say get a 4-1 one. The only thing better i would suggest is getting a 4-2-1 with a very short 2 section and a 2.5 inch collector. That would be you best option to get the best of both worlds.....But very pricy

Yes it's very bad..I already have several bumps in mine and some scrathes..And my car is not lowered very much (35mm) ..It's a good header, but it hangs way too low
