Re: What did i get?
while looking at the motor, there is a number stamped on the block. this stamping is a little below the left side of the exhaust manifold, right where the head trans and block all meet. in that general area. read those numbers and that will be the enging or block code. if it is a ZC motor it will say ZC and such.. or D16Y8 or whatever. this stamping might be dirty. the stamping is about one inch high by two inches. tell us what you find.

Should be an engine code on the front left of the block, right where the block and tranny bolt together (ex. D16Z6...D16A6) . Is the motor single or dual cam?

Re: What did i get?
read up on the FAQ's pages. you've got a long way to go, but persistence will pay off.
the stock motor for a 93 DX should be the D15B7. A 1.5L, single cam, non-vtec with mulitpoint fuel injection.
you said you know it's swaped though, so a single cam ZC would fit that category, and so would a D16Z6 which came in the EX model for that same year. D16Z6 is definately more popular and abundantly available. the ZC not so much...
you can look at the engine block, just below the upper radiator hose, near the exhaust manifold for the engine number stamping. you may have to clean off some built up oil residue or dirt to see it. that's the motor you've got. once you know for sure, you can start searching and reading all about it!

Re: What did i get?
That sounds like a bit of a headache, and you don't seem like you know much. VTEC always being engaged is a VERY bad thing. It sounds like the guy you're buying it from has a VTEC head on a SOHC non-VTEC ZC block. To check for VTEC you just gotta look for the solenoid on the head:
It's the cylindrical thing by the head, looks kinda bronze-ish in the picture.
As for the engine BLOCK, look for the stamp as everyone said, it's by where the tranny and block bolt up together, right by the exhaust manifold (header):
Anyways, good luck, and think about what you're getting yourself into..

I'd recommend working out all the bug's in this car before jumping into "aftermarket part's". Find out exactly what block, head, and ecu you have in the car and also work out the vtec wiring issue's. Your ecu should also have a barcode sticker on the side of it with number's and a couple letter's...with that we'll be able to tell you what ecu you have and if it's for auto or manual.

Re: What did i get?
B21A is the JDM version of the B21A1, the engine from a 1990-1991 Honda Prelude SR. It has FRM, burns mad oil, and has very little aftermarket. It shares nearly nothing in common with the other B-series engines. In short, it pretty much sucks.
