Ok, so my honda civic 93 hatchback is draining battery fast. I have checked how much battery is being drained and it does have an alarm system and from what I checked its draining 0.02 mA and I took it to car toys and they said the same thing. They dont know why is draining nor do I. First, I thought it was the battery, but then I bought a new battery and it did the same thing. This started happening after I fixed my headlights not working properly as you can see in my other topic thread. After 8 hours the battery is completly dead and it drains faster with alarm active. Anybody know what could possibly be the problem?

Sounds like it's time to investigate a parasitic draw. Watch the vid below or Google the topic, but basically you'll need a multimeter to check for amps, and you pull fuses until the amps drop.

Can you explain? How loose ground wires can drain battery. Also they Car Toys guy said he thought it was because of ground cable loose on battery and fixed up but then he said that was not the case. Could it be a ground cable loose from somewhere else? Maybe bad ground box next to headlights.

I already said its draining 0.02 mA(correction). There is something I am not seeing that is draining it quick.

explain how you "fixed" your headlights? Did you had to re-wire it? Like I mentioned above, you have a LOOSE GROUND wire.

rotten wire harness with cracked old wires cause hell in old hondas....

I fixed it by replacing the head light connectors with new ones. Although I am sharing a positive red/yellow cable from passenger side headlight. Although, i do believe I wouldnt have an issue connecting it back to its own cable because the problem was the connector itself.

The connectors were loose and kept my headlights flickering. But anyways I decided to use a relay to the battery to see if this solves my issue. I will get back to yall. I am no longer sharing red/yellow wire from the passenger headlight.

each headlight has its own power circuit. Why would you overload it and cause more issues? Hoped soldered the connections and covered with heatshrink tupbing instead of just stripping the insulation and twisting the wires together.

It's more likely 0.02A = 20mA, which is well inside the acceptable range. Definitely strange. Maybe something is turning on after a given period of time? An intermittent problem, which is the toughest to diagnose. Film the multimeter for a while? Boring to watch, I know.... but you can ffwd through it.

And yeah, put the headlight back the way it was. There's a reason both are on separate circuits. Quick way to fry your wiring and have a lot more problems than a dead battery. Like, send whole car to the scrap yard time. Put it back and fix the headlights properly! Solder, heatshrink. At minimum butt connectors but pack em with grease so any exposed wiring doesn't corrode (ask me how I know...)

Ok so update, last Saturday I went to car toys to swap out the alarm system from clifford to audiovox, hoping that would have solved the problem. The car went good on battery for a couple of days and bamm battery died. So, this is going to be hard to figure out, I will just watch how much battery will with my dmm.

I think I may have found the problem, I believe it is my ac compressor clutch relay. I was blaming my ignition coil for low idle and car turning off and then when attempting to replace it, when moving the ignition coil the clutch was clicking and then I touched the clutch relay, it was really hot. So I am thinking its my ac clutch relay thats faulty. I dont know if it was necessary changing the ignition coil though. Im hoping that its fixed now.
