If you want gas MPG then you want the Worst tranny. best would be short ratio, but for gas you want long ratio.

I have a JDM D15B engine and tranny in my EK hatch...and the ratios are much shorter than my old DX tranny. Actually, I originally put the D15B tranny on my D16Y7 engine (a few months before I swapped the engine), and noticed an obvious increase in acceleration. However, I also noticed an obvious decrease in fuel economy.
I'm not sure about the ZC tranny, but the D15B tranny is pretty much the same as 92-95 Si. They are also cheap from any importer.

you can get good gas mileage with shorter geared trannys as well, just keep your foot out of it. of course that defeats the purpose of getting the transmission in the first place lol.

DOHC's have better torque right from the start, i'll give you that. But for people owning a civic/crx, DOHC's in my opinion are very overrated and overpriced. As highly praised as the B series engine is, it pales in comparison to other makes stock motors...IE mazda's rotary beasts. ****, even nissan!
I dont know, im happy with my z6. I'de go F or H series before i'de go B in my eg.

Without sparking the dohc > sohc debate, this is all i'll say...

Re: what is the best d series tranny to use?
I have a question in regards D series Tranny...
I came across a d16z6 out of a 95 civic ex. for 200 dollars i will get the p28, the engine, the tranny, and a obd0- obd1 harness from my friend. My question is this, engine wize i got it figured out so no problem there. but as i was reading about the tranny i found out that I would have to use a cable to hydro conversion kit. no problem there. but is it true that if I use the Cable to Hydraulic Actuator from Innovative mounts that I would have to buy new motor mounts? why would I if the kit connects to the tranny. Unless the tranny is different but makes no sense cause arent all the d series tranny the same? so shouldnt the mounts be all the same?
