just cause your running an ITR ECU doesn't mean you can rev high like the ITR.
You need to build up there buddy.

Of course it is possible.

Re: What is the B18c1 redline????? (H22A EG6)
The stock fuel cut for a usdm gsr is 8200 rpms correct?
My question is how noticable is the loss in power when you are using the p28 instead of the gsr ecu?
What are the differences? The secondary butterflies dont open, rev limit and what else should I concerned about?
Thanks

With stock cams? You don't need to be revving that high.

For your p28 did you just get a "moogen" chip or something like that or is it actually tuned? I imagine the fuel maps for the p28 and the gsr should be different therefore resulting in a loss of power but I'm wondering how significant is it?

thats why mine is mapped for a 1.8L. It's the skunk2 chip.

Ok I understand I was just questioning how well the premade maps work on motors which they werent tuned for.. Let me know if you notice a significant increase in performance. I'm debating weither I should just get my p28 chipped with a premade map or if it's worth saving up for a S200.
Currently my motor is stock but I plan on doing a mild all motor build up.

lol.. Do you tune the vafc yourself or did someone do it for you? This reminds me of a few vafc controller questions I have.
Can a Apex-i vafc raise or lower the rev limit? And does anyone know where I can find some good reading material on basic tuning with a vafc and without a dyno.
Thanks

I had a friend tune it, no dyno but a diagnostic program, (laptop) As far as I know the VAFC can't change the rev limiter. But as far as tuning w/ out a dyno or other tips.... Good luck I wouldn't really f with it. After my tune I thought it was too punchy in the lower RPMs (real lean) so I richened it a percent or two, and again richened it around vtec, but thats compared to where it was tuned, it's leaned through out the whole RPM range? Is it the best? I dunno Gotta save somne money for some dyno tuning...

You can rev a lil higher, what is it, 84k? but with no mods theres no point. after 7800 your gaining no power. c5 ecu is ******* pointless on a stock gsr.

Re: What is the B18c1 redline????? (Grimm)
What did this diagnostic program hook up to?? If your car is OBD2 then i know what you're talking about..
When you tune an engine for maximum performance it is going to run lean... The perfect air/fuel ratio involves way more air than fuel therefore creating a lean condition.. This increases engine temps and puts a lot more stain on the engine compared to stock..
I was having a discussion about this topic with a mechanic friend of mine and we concluded that it doesnt seem to be a good idea to get your engine dyno tuned for max horsepower.. if you're going to be driving it every day that is.. and if you care about how long it will last..

Re: What is the B18c1 redline????? (hadehatch)
yea I'm OBDII, Plugged into some connector on the drivers side
I've had argumements/discussions about the rich vs. lean. Cause my setup is leaned, and people are like no man you need to richen it up for max power. Personally I really don't know the actual science/engineering to it, but I know I could feel it when it was getting tuned.
I don't know the name of the actual diagnostic software ?
